We are a women-led, collaborative, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to offering patient-centred alternative medicine and holistic healing to Salt Spring Island & the Gulf Islands.
Our Mission
Our mission is to be a hub for health care and healing for our community.
We are a healing centre that is patient-centred in our approach to care, holistic in worldview, and a welcoming non-judgemental space. Our team offers high quality services across a spectrum of disciplines with an approach that is collaborative and individualized for every patient. Our team spans the spectrum from conventional to alternative medicine approaches and from the physical plane of healing to the mental/emotional and spiritual. We take a patient-centred approach, meaning we are here to support you, empower you, and help you discover the right set of healing tools for you. We are here to hold the beacon of hope that you can be well.
Our Why
We believe in building healthy communities to build a better world, together. We believe that human health is inextricably tied to community health and environmental health, and that the individual healing process CAN change the world. We live in a transformative time, and our intention is to prioritize life giving ways which contribute to a culture of vibrancy, vitality, and resiliency.
In the meantime, we are providing much needed care in the context of a shortage of family doctors and primary care. And, we are doing it in a way that resonates with Salt Spring - holistic, integrative, and patient-centred.
The Arbutus
The arbutus tree is our namesake; madrona is another name for arbutus, which is a beautiful tree that is geographically specific to our local area and very locally recognizable. The root of the word Madrona is “mother” which symbolises for us the sense of feeling held and supported we want people to feel when they come into the clinic. You are safe here. We’ve got you. This is a different healthcare experience.
