Trauma-Informed Care

One of the uniting elements that brings all the members of our team together is an understanding of the deep ways in which trauma affects the body and mind. All of our team members are committed to bringing this perspective into their work, both through education and somatic practices, as well as in our day-to-day communication. 

Body positivity

We aim to offer a body positive and inclusive space in both obvious structural ways as well as subtle ways in our language and the attitudes held amongst our team. We carry a range of medical supplies (i.e. blood pressure cuffs, medical gowns) to accommodate people of all different sizes. While weight loss can be a health goal for a variety of reasons, our practitioners do not dismiss health concerns as being a result of weight alone.

Wheelchair accessibility

Unfortunately our beautiful old heritage building location is not wheelchair accessible — there are 6 steps to reach the front door. Please contact us so we can collaborate on making special accommodations that will work for you. Our practitioners offer telemedicine (online or phone) visits as well as home visits.

Most particularly, “The Nest”, our upstairs treatment room is located up a full flight of narrow stairs. If your mobility is limited or you are otherwise concerned about getting up the stairs please let us know and we can make special arrangements to accommodate you on the main floor.
