Dr. Sam Bowen, ND

Dr. Sam is a naturopathic doctor who strives to create patient-centred care that focuses on identifying the root cause of symptoms and understanding the interconnectedness between the different systems of the body and mind. Drawing on a variety of tools such as lifestyle and nutritional counselling, targeted supplementation, acupuncture, IV nutrient therapy, and pharmaceuticals, her goal is to create individualized treatment plans that optimise the unique health needs of her patients. Through this process, she aims to establish an environment where patients feel supported and empowered throughout their health journey.

Her own experiences of living with eczema and acne have led her to develop a keen interest in skin health optimization. Her other clinical focuses lie in supporting women’s health, digestive health, and mental health.

From a young age, she has always aspired to work in the field of health and medicine. Growing up on Salt Spring Island, BC, she developed a strong curiosity to better understand the various factors that influence our health.

This curiosity led her to Dalhousie University where she completed a B.Sc. Honours in Health Promotion. Her program opened her eyes to the power of preventative health care and expanded her knowledge around the endless health barriers that individuals face each day. This influenced her to complete an honours thesis that aimed to better understand the economic, environmental, and mental/emotional barriers that women living with HIV/AIDS face in Nova Scotia face while managing their health and nutrition.

She further pursued her interest in nutrition by completing the Holistic Nutrition Certificate Program at the Pacific Rim College. From there, she enrolled at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (now called CCNM – Boucher) where she completed her 4-year naturopathic training.

When not working at the clinic, Dr. Sam enjoys travelling, hiking, and skiing.
